In 1972 Steve
joined the Frank Ekberg & Company Insurance Company. He is the third
generation Ekberg to be in the insurance business. Steve has been a member
of the Gig Harbor community for 32 years, serving as a member of the Gig
Harbor City council for more than 22 years. He is the past president of the
Pierce County Independent Agents Association, and has served on the boards
of national and regional agent councils. His wife, Marion, is a kindergarten
teacher. They have two children, Adam and Reid.

Gayle C. Holcom,
CLU, ChFC, FLMI, is president of PH&E, Inc. She is a member of the Society of
Financial Service Professionals, served on the 1998-2001 Board of Directors
representing its Western Region and currently serves as Chair of the Employee
Benefit Section and Past President of the local South Sound Chapter in Tacoma,
WA.
Gayle earned her Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation in 1977 and her
Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation in 1987. A member of the
Tacoma Estate Planning Council, the National Association of Health Underwriters
and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, she is a past
president of the Pacific Northwest Women’s Life Underwriter Confederation.
Gayle earned her undergraduate degree at Wellesley (Mass.) College and a
master’s degree in business administration from the University of Puget Sound,
Tacoma. Active in the community, she is a past president of the Hospice of
Tacoma Foundation, two local Parent Teacher Associations and the Dash Point
Community Club.

Donna joined Pilkey-Hopping & Ekberg in 1981 as a
producer in the commercial lines division. She speaks fondly of her early
years with Pilkey-Hopping & Ekberg, usually telling stories of the kindness
of Don Pilkey. Donna is the past President of the Washington State
Independent Agents and Brokers Association. She is also an active member of
the local chapter of this national organization. Donna is a long-time
member of the National Association of Insurance Women and is an active board
member for the local United Way of Pierce County.
She is a Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter and
holds a degree from the Insurance Institute of America. In addition, her
personal contributions to the community include former board member of the
Gonyea Boys & Girls Club, Den Leader and advisory board member for Clover Park
Technical College and past President of the PTA for Life Christian School.
She lives in
University place with her husband, Paul and son, Jarrod. She enjoys reading,
golfing, baking and attending plays

John joined Pilkey-Hopping & Ekberg in September of 2003
when his own agency, Jack Shouse Insurance, merged with the firm. He brought 24
years of personal lines sales and service experience with him, and became the
manager of our personal lines department. In addition to managing the
department he is active in selling new business for the agency.
Though John was born in Missouri, his family moved to
Washington State in the early 1960’s, and he attended public schools in the
Lakewood area. John has been active over the years in outdoor activities
including golf, hunting, bicycling, hiking and backpacking as well as mountain
climbing. These days his main passion out of the office is riding around the
country on his motorcycle.
John resides in
Tacoma and keeps his motorcycle ready to hit the road at a moments notice.
